Every year in May we’re reminded to show our love and appreciation for our mothers. As both a mother and a daughter, I value Mother’s Day as a chance for thoughtful acknowledgment. Ideally, we show our mothers kindness and affection every day of the year. Together folate and betaine help lower blood levels of homocysteine, which can increase your risk of heart disease by causing artery-damaging inflammation. Not to mention beets have been used throughout history for lip and cheek stains! They’re the perfect whole-body beauty food.
